Hannah Hughes

I am a London-based artist, working primarily in painting, drawing and collage. My solo work involves a process of editing, copying and interrupting pre-existing images, exploring the tension between abstraction and representation. I also collaborate with artist Jill Henderson on an project called The Drawing Salon, a traveling program of artist-led drawing workshops in public art spaces.
I have recently relocated from Vancouver, Canada – where I was living and working for the last four years. During my time overseas I participated in setting up two interactive augmented-reality projects for the Contemporary Art Gallery in Vancouver, with Canadian artist Ron Tran and Costa Rican artist Federico Herrero.
I am a member of the Cubitt Education Drawing Collective, creating drawing-based workshop activities for families. I’ve found working with young people to be extremely rewarding and enjoy the challenge of creating positive, shared learning experiences.
