I am an artist who lives and works in London, and whose primary medium is drawing. My current project, The paper burns but the words fly free explores some ideas behind the automaton – to ‘act of one’s own will’. A robot is brought to life through computer programming and destroys work that is made by hand. My practice is involved in the use of computer programming, in order to draw parallels with the laws which govern the social body. I am interested in the cold rationalism of computer programming, because it is a language, which is fixed, rigid, powerful but limited. I support the facilitation of workshops at Camden Art Centre as well as Bow Arts. As well as running my own mark-making workshops, where I invite participants to explore the possibilities of technology in drawing.
